how I all right that's that's a good one how I got involved the skela so was working at got involved the skela so was working at a company and we were actually doing a a company and we were actually doing a lot of C++ and our clients one of us to lot of C++ and our clients one of us to move to.net and F sharp was still a move to.net and F sharp was still a research language at Microsoft but being research language at Microsoft but being an ml offshoot of course I was naturally an ml offshoot of course I was naturally attracted but when I told us we had to attracted but when I told us we had to go to the JVM I looked for language that go to the JVM I looked for language that was similar I found Scala and I started was similar I found Scala and I started attending the Boston Scala meetup groups attending the Boston Scala meetup groups and after a while you know I wanted to and after a while you know I wanted to just join a company because I figured just join a company because I figured you know after a year and a half of just you know after a year and a half of just sort of being a language lurker it was sort of being a language lurker it was time for me to take the plunge so I did time for me to take the plunge so I did about nearly six years ago I you know about nearly six years ago I you know joined a company and did Scala full-time joined a company and did Scala full-time and and hadn't really looked back since you know hadn't really looked back since you know uh that's that's funny an ideal stack I uh that's that's funny an ideal stack I don't really have one I mean my ideal don't really have one I mean my ideal stack is the one that's most productive stack is the one that's most productive for for the developers so I think right for for the developers so I think right now that stack is just a small enough now that stack is just a small enough amount that's similar enough that people amount that's similar enough that people can transition between the different can transition between the different roles so or different applications that roles so or different applications that are being built you know i'm looking at are being built you know i'm looking at scala we look at go we look at scala we look at go we look at javascript and i think there's a lot of javascript and i think there's a lot of a lot of interest in those three a lot of interest in those three languages and python as well 44 sort of languages and python as well 44 sort of glue and scripting and a lot of the glue and scripting and a lot of the other things that we building like AWS other things that we building like AWS land does and so you know these these land does and so you know these these languages all have similarities there at languages all have similarities there at all have functions as first-class all have functions as first-class citizens and things of that nature but citizens and things of that nature but there's no flexibility and enough there's no flexibility and enough variety there to keep people entertained variety there to keep people entertained and you know talking about an ideal and you know talking about an ideal versus actual you know i think i think versus actual you know i think i think i'd be happy working with almost i'd be happy working with almost anything which is which is odd to hear anything which is which is odd to hear at a scholar conference but you know at at a scholar conference but you know at home you know i hack on Scala and that's home you know i hack on Scala and that's that's the language for me but i don't that's the language for me but i don't want to i don't want to force you know want to i don't want to force you know my preferences on other people alright my preferences on other people alright so i mean every conference that miles so i mean every conference that miles savings at you know i look forward to a savings at you know i look forward to a talk there but i will say Rob norris talk there but i will say Rob norris when he gives the doobie talk my when he gives the doobie talk my compliments to the man he's able to take compliments to the man he's able to take a concept that might be difficult it a concept that might be difficult it might seem and approachable because it might seem and approachable because it has some sort of scary signature and and
