Scale By The Bay 2019: Omar Alonso Interview

Area were based in Palo Alto my my title is technical lead I mostly work on is technical lead I mostly work on knowledge bases knowledge graphs and knowledge bases knowledge graphs and labeling in general for healthcare [Music] [Music] I've been coming to scale and text by I've been coming to scale and text by the way for many years the way for many years there's no my first time I did a few important part was the the the the most important part was the one out of Twitter data because we built one out of Twitter data because we built it from scratch did scale we're shipping it from scratch did scale we're shipping in Microsoft we've got a lot of paper in Microsoft we've got a lot of paper salad and we show it and I think is salad and we show it and I think is pretty interesting I put a lot of pretty interesting I put a lot of pointers to further publications so pointers to further publications so folks who are really interested in the folks who are really interested in the technology that can go and check about technology that can go and check about it the stuff at karai I just joined a it the stuff at karai I just joined a couple of months ago so there's a lot of the mix of hands on people in the field academics researchers applied academics researchers applied researchers so gives you a kind of broad researchers so gives you a kind of broad perspective on different topics instead perspective on different topics instead of being like just only full stack of a of being like just only full stack of a particular development toolkit or tool particular development toolkit or tool from language lines like Scala here from language lines like Scala here there's a mix of different things so a there's a mix of different things so a thing gives you a pretty good idea of thing gives you a pretty good idea of the state of they are from different the state of they are from different angles and I think if you really want to angles and I think if you really want to take advantage of the event you have to take advantage of the event you have to kind of pick different talks that would kind of pick different talks that would expose you to the variety of things that expose you to the variety of things that we have in the field so instead of like we have in the field so instead of like only looking for you know tools or only only looking for you know tools or only looking for the research stuff just kind looking for the research stuff just kind of you know spread out and sprinkle here of you know spread out and sprinkle here and there to get
